MSE undergrads participate in APS Conference for Undergraduate Women

Materials Science and Engineering undergraduate students Nadia Albayati and Joyce Christiansen-Salameh presented posters at the January 18 – 20 American Physical Society’s (APS) Conference for Undergraduate Women (CUWiP), whose regional event took place at UC Davis.

Eleven sites including UC Davis hosted the events, which included talks and workshops on everything from career paths to work/life balance to physics. The UC Davis event included student poster presentations, lab tours and the chance to meet hundreds of female physicists from Northern California and Nevada. 

The goal of the APS CUWiP is to help undergraduate women continue in physics by providing them with an opportunity to experience a professional conference, information about graduate school and professions in physics, and access to other women in physics of all ages with whom they can share experiences, advice and ideas.
