Professor Emeritus Jeffery Gibeling Named Interim Vice Chancellor of Research

University of California, Davis, Chancellor Gary S. May has appointed Professor Emeritus Jeffery Gibeling to serve as the interim vice chancellor for research effective March 1. May will form a recruitment advisory committee soon to conduct a nationwide search for the next vice chancellor. He anticipates Gibeling will serve in the interim role for approximately six months.

CHMS reconstituted into two new departments for 2016-17

On February 29, 2016 the Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science was reconstituted into two new departments: the Department of Chemical Engineering and the Department of Materials Science and Engineering. Currently we are in a transition period which we expect to last for the rest of this academic year (2015-16) .  The departments will operate independently starting July 1, 2016.

CHMS Receives Three Years of GAANN Funding

The Chemical Engineering and Materials Science (CHMS) Department has received a new three-year Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need (GAANN) Award for the years 2015-2018.  This prestigious award enables support of CHMS graduate students with excellent records who demonstrate financial need and plan to pursue a Ph.D in Chemical Engineering or Materials Science and Engineering.
